Know Your Video Part 2
Structure is everything in films. By which I mean that the way you put your video together has as much to do with it's success as anything else. You can see that easily if you consider this film:
The movie opens as we fade up from black on a close-up of a giant, fiery wizard's head. "Bring me the broomstick of the wicked Witch of the west!" it screams. Then over the flames and smoke,we hear a brooklynees voice reminiscing: "It seemed like I had barely grown my first mane the day she slapped me on the nose . It was then that i knew we had a thing for each other." Then CUT to a point -of- view shot through the undergrowth of the forest. A tiny black dog darts out from under a tree, yapping and growling . The camera follows the dog out to a clearing blackness. Then we CUT to a little girl and a lion dancing arm in arm down a yellow brick road...
Different STRUCTURE, Different MOVIES. And so it is with your video. You can tell the story chronologically or not. From the point of view of a gifted teacher or one of her less-gifted students. As with the girders on a building, how you arrange the underpinnings of your videos has everything to do with how it finally looks.
